There was no reason not to like me, right? So what was wrong with this girl that she wasn’t interested in ALL OF THIS? *gestures to a poorly dressed dork with braces who only talks about Star Wars* Everyone I trusted in my life told me that I was essentially the ultimate boyfriend material. So you can imagine my surprise when I told that young lady how I felt and her response was to – as nicely as she could manage – inform me that she didn’t really see me as boyfriend material. Luckily, I had the advice of my family to lean on, gems such as “you’re such a smart and handsome boy, you won’t have any trouble finding a girlfriend” and “you’re a sweetheart, any girl would be lucky to have you.” The whole thing seemed like a slam dunk, really. I was smitten and I had no idea what to do with the sensations I was feeling. She met my incredibly high standards immediately. The subject of my affections was a girl who sat next to me in band class. Best advice I’ve got is to take the inside of the turns as much as possible, avoid the walls and other bugs as it will make you slow down, and yeah.I experienced my first crush in middle school. The reason the completion time for Royal is long isn’t necessarily the “fluff” you are talking about, but rather the massive amounts of text you have to sit through for story purposes, some stuff gets said over and over a LOT.īesides that, regarding the “fluff” I’m kinda confused, what it really sounds like is simply a matter of preference, in that you didn’t like some of the confidants, excess time or some of the extra (but not required) activities. Hmm, well I haven’t finished P4G, but I have finished Royal, and honestly I think I understand what you’re saying but I think something should be clarified. Royal built off of Golden, so it makes sense there are more features, and things I like from the newest version. Even with all the differences I put up, I would rate them both the same in terms of how much I want to play them. That's enough of my ranting, and I know I am on a Persona 4 Sub so this might not be a popular opinion, but I do truly think both games are 10/10. At least with Royal though, you get perks for these interactions. I love Yumi's version though, not so much the band route). For Golden I would say the weakest are: Hanged, Tower, Temperance, Hermit, Death, and Sun (iffy, for me. But most of that is based on my interest in their story. I think each one has their merits, but if I were to pick the weakest from Royal, I would say: Devil, Hanged, and Sun. Personally I love all of them (minus a few from Golden I didn't get a chance to get to know). I noticed you mention how you don't like many of the confidants in Royal, but I would argue that many of the ones in Golden are just as bad. Royals group by contrary feel more like aged up high schoolers (except maybe Ryuji). They are childish which is endearing, and they don't really feel like they've hit that stage in childhood where you have to worry about adult stuff. The characters are all fantastic and feel like kids who started a mystery group after school. The murder mystery segments to this game are fantastic, and it has a lot of heart tugging moments. I think it has a fantastic story about a small town that progressively gets bigger the more you interact with it's inhabitants. The characters, the friendship, the comradery. Sure the walls look different, but everything is basically a giant maze of hallways. I don't feel I can say the same about Golden. Every dungeon in Royal is unique, and fills a role. I like that each Palace is designed and has a layout, as opposed to random floors, and I love spending time in momento's. Royal has great style, and great gameplay, as well as a ton of Quality of Life improvements to the leveling/fusion systems. I have no nostalgia for either game btw, I played them both over the last 2 years. Personally I think Royal is better than Golden. But, Persona 4 and 5 feel like I am actually ripping off the developers- which is a strange feeling I've never had before. A lot of games I've bought in my life either felt like I got ripped off (short game/underdeveloped) or they just felt. One thing is for certain though, both Persona 4 and Persona 5 are some of the few games I've played where I actually feel like I've ripped off the developers, rather than the other way around. I'm not even halfway through Persona 5 yet, so, I am holding off on any overly-elaborate opinions of it. Here's something as well, Persona 4's party social links blow Persona 5's party social links out of the water in my opinion (because I love Persona 4's cast so much), but, Persona 5 has far, far better social links for characters outside of your main party. I will say however, that there's zero doubt in my mind that Persona 5 has way better dungeon design and combat. I also felt more intrigued with Persona 4's murder mystery plot more-so than I am interested in the plot surrounding Persona 5. Persona 4 has far, far better characters in my opinion- and a WAY better soundtrack. I'm not experienced in both games enough to answer this question, as, right now, I am only roughly 30 hours into Persona 5: Royal, however, even if it is an early judgement, I will say that there's elements of Persona 4 I prefer over Persona 5, and likewise there's elements of Persona 5 I prefer over Persona 4.
While muttering, “Well, duh!” you’ll also feel twinges of shame and regret. You will encounter statements that are so obvious you wonder if they really needed to be said, only to realize that you could have used that bit of wisdom only moments ago. Like most books on parenting, this one is filled with moments that are at the same time obvious and profound. The instruction we give them will only make sense in the context of the story of the Scriptures that tells them who they are and about the God who made them and offers them redemption.” The task of parenting, after all, involves showing our children “the vital connection between the powerful story of redemption in the Scriptures and their daily experience. But where the focus of Shepherding was turning the emphasis from outward obedience to matters of the heart, the focus of Instructing is on building into a child’s heart a worldview that is biblical enough and sufficiently robust to stand up to their questioning and to the culture’s skepticism. The heart is the heart of all effective instruction. It is more difficult but far more profitable to look to the heart for it is the heart that is the wellspring of all behavior. It is far too simple to create little legalists, children who adhere to the letter of law, all the while defying the spirit of the law and the One who gives us laws in the first place. The strength of this book, like Shepherding a Child’s Heart before it, and the message I need to hear again and again, is Tripp’s insistence, his constant exhortation, that parents must look beyond behavior and look primarily to the heart. Having done that, he turns his attention to four of these, giving practical pointers on how to get from behavior to the heart, how to apply the sowing and reaping principle of Scripture to corrective discipline, communication with children and the centrality of the gospel. Each of these receives a chapter, or close to a chapter, in which he describes the principle and how it is foundational to building a biblical worldview. He dedicates attention to the heart, the principle of sowing and reaping, God’s plan for authority, the glory of God, wisdom and foolishness, how we are complete in Christ, and the importance of the church. Here, over the course of eight chapters, Tripp describes several essential building blocks of a biblical worldview. It is the second section that is the heart of the book. And in the third section he focuses on applying formative instruction in very practical ways. In the second section he zeros in on the more specific topics that form the true substance of formative instruction. In the first Tripp introduces the reader to formative instruction, looking at the concept through a wide lens. Sponsor Show Your Support Become a Patron The goal of this formative instruction is, in accordance with Deuteronomy 6, “so that we and our children and our grandchildren may fair the Lord and walk in his ways, enjoying a long life.” We help our children construct a worldview that allows them to properly see God for who he is and to properly see them as His creation. We form them through the daily discipline of family worship and through spending time deliberately together, but also through reacting properly to the situations life brings unexpectedly. We form our children by interpreting life for them and responding to its challenges in biblical ways. It provides a way of interpreting life through the redemptive story of God, who reconciles people to himself.” Formative instruction is instruction that comes before problems arise and in that way is different from corrective discipline which follows problems. It shows our children the glory and dignity of mankind as God’s image bearers. It provides a culture for our children, a culture that is distinctly Christian. Tripp describes it most simply as “teaching that ‘forms’ our children.” It is teaching that “enables them to root life in God’s revelation in the Bible. Instructing a Child’s Heart is a book that focuses on “formative instruction,” a term that begs further definition. Thirteen years is a long time by any measure! It was no lost on me that many of the book’s lessons and anecdotes now focus on the author’s grandchildren. It was thirteen years ago that Tedd Tripp published his last book. It was thirteen years ago that its predecessor, Shepherding a Child’s Heart, was published. Instructing a Child’s Heart has been a long time coming. Or a more thorough test (which took me about 1.5 hours): # smartctl -t long -a /dev/sda You can then execute a self-test by doing either a short test (which took me about 1 minute): # smartctl -t short -a /dev/sda You need to enable that by executing the following as root: # smartctl -s on -a /dev/sda SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability. However when I execute the command to show the drive info, it looks like SMART was disabled: # smartctl -a /dev/sda Similar to this answer execute # apt-get install smartmontools I did not find another tool for linux that made the 'correct' information transparent or clear.įor Kingston drives on Debian-based computers Instead of telling you it 'doesn't know' - smartctl just mislabeled the attribute. Perhaps it will improve in the future, but the version installed by default for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (April, 2014) was total fail. The so-what: If you don't have an Intel SSD- do not be mislead by the false attribute name labels provided by smartmonitor. see the attribute label chart on for the only useful indication of the degree of variability that I found. ( Samsung: I'm very disappointed, please either fix your official software-tool, or at least make it clear that you do not provide wear out indication information!)įurther - if you have neither an Intel SSD nor Samsung SSD - be warned, this info does seem to vary across manufacturers. The document indeed implies that the attribute 'hex E9' /'decimal '233' is not used by Samsung the same way. To be as sure as I can, I dug and dug and was finally able to locate at least something from Samsung official: Samsung White Paper 07: Communicating With Your SSD By contrast the smartctl tool explicitly labeled the attribute with 'decimal- 233 / 'hex- E9' as "Media Wearout Indicator" - and told me its value was "1" or 1% - an indicator of (the risk of) pending failure. This and other forum postings, stack-exchange question/answers, and power-user blogs I found seem to be 'Intel focused,' with only vague hints that 'it may vary.' (Versus any suggestion that you need to watch out for wrong and erroneous labeling of the attribute by smartmontools).Īs I was preparing to copy my SSD to a new harddrive I'd bought (because of what smartmontools had told me), I booted to windows (I have a dual boot system), to learn something about SSD's from what the windows-only Samsung tool 'Samsung_Magician_v43.exe' had to tell me about my drive - it was shockingly uninformative.Īfter what's been hours of digging - I've finally been able to run the windows only tools: hddgaurdian, and then also CrystalDiskInfo: Surprise! both tools independently tell me my Samsung SSD is 'just fine' (hdd guardian says '5 stars' and Crystal Disk "98% OK"). Watch out !! - I was blithely mislead by 'smartmontools.' I have a Samsung SSD, and the smartmonitor/'smartctl' tool happily misreported that '233' (hex 'E9') attribute was 'Media_Wearout_Indicator' in fact - no, for Samsung (and other manufacturers) it is up to entirely different. Calvarial lesions are often asymptomatic and are usually discovered incidentally during computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain or as part of workup of local clinical symptoms or staging of other diseases. It reminded me that structural factors within the healthcare system, such as staffing and budgets,Ĭan impact on the quality of attention delivered to patients. Responsibility of every doctor to behave respectfully with patients, on this occasion an excessive workload and the lack of availability of an interpreter no doubt contributed to the doctor's behaviour. Clearly this behaviour by the doctor was not appropriate, even though the doctor was obviously frustrated at the patient's apparent inability to understand the instructions. When the doctor raised his voice to the patient I felt embarrassed and the patient appeared to feel humiliated. As we’ve already established, reflective writing is a mental process involving contemplation and consideration. It reminded me to maintain an appropriate communication style with patients when I am a doctor. Here are a few examples of reflective writing in everyday situations: Self-review or peer reviews Feedback about a program Reflective journal or log at work The Process Of Reflective Writing. When the doctor raised his voice to the patient I felt embarrassed. For example: Addressing course issues and topics – comparison. Remember where possible to link your reflections to theoretical aspects of your course. If possible, use it to raise new questions or to speculate about possible causes and solutions. Try not to confine your writing to the event and your feelings. What is important is not only what you did, but how you felt, what you have learnt from that experience, and how it will inform your behaviour in the future. You need to go beyond simply admitting a weakness or mistake or failure. Some writers become confused between self-reflection and self-criticism.
